Monday 3 march - saturday 29 March 2008
Welcome to the 3rd annual Mosman Villlage Festival of Sculpture.
Located in
the heart of one of Sydney's fashionable shopping precincts, the Mosman Village
will be home to some 80 contemporary sculptures prominently displayed in selected
shops between Raglan Street and Belmont Road, Mosman during the month of March.
From a giant stainless steel swordfish to a cement handbag… from the
quirky and humorous to the elegant… in bronze, steel, stone, glass and
wood… a great variety of sculptures will create a trail of art through
the Village. Art is moving out of the art gallery directly to the public.
The Festival highlights
the co-operative spirit between the local retailers and traders, and the artists
from the Sculptors Society (www.sculptorssociety.com).
Launch:
The exhibition runs from Monday 3 March until Saturday 29th March, with the official
opening on Thursday 6th March at the Mosman RS Club. Our thanks also go to Geoffrey
Grist of Coldwell Banker, Neutral Bay for proudly launching the 2008 Festival.
Awards and Judging:
There are three awards totaling $2,000 as well as a people’s choice award.
The judge for the exhibition is Kiralynne Hill, Curator of the Art Gallery and
Sculpture Park at Macquarie University. Be part of the fun and come for a wander.
